In order to crack down on criminals that show off their profits the Leicestershire Constabulary has started a new campain called Too much bling? Give us a ring.

According to the post: Members of the public will be the key to the success of this campaign as officers will need their help to strip these people of the proceeds of their crimes. All they have to do is report anyone they know who is living a lavish lifestyle funded by suspected criminal activity.

Once there is enough evidence pointing to the cash or property being the proceeds of crime, the burden can be on the accused to explain where it has come from ? which can be a difficult thing to do if you've got a top of the range Mercedes on the drive and £10,000 from dealing drugs stuffed under your mattress.

Assistant Chief Constable Chris Eyre said
What the Proceeds of Crime Act allows us to do is strip the assets from the so-called untouchables, whether they are street criminals by ending their lavish lifestyles and bankrupting their criminal enterprises.

Wow.
